Sequestration and the "Manufactured Crisis"

Irony abounds when discussing sequestration, there are rumors of this mega 85B cut out of a 3.7T budget; not much you'd think, unless you consider trickle-down sequestration. When you remove, say 100K people from employment, whether entirely or marginally, you impact...everything. When you remove a job or reduce a job, everything that person would have purchased has been removed. So while it seems trivial to remove a few jobs, or a few days of jobs, wait until the local Starbucks or Walmart begins firing folks because they aren't turning enough revenue. This doesn't start/stop with the Federal government. The problem we have here is the manufactured crisis that the current Administration and Congress seem to be fine with. Remember, this sequestration was thought up by the current President, as a threat to Congress. He signed the sequestration into law - he didn't believe his bluff would be called by the incompetent US Congress and worse, he didn't have a plan shou...

Poor Cruise Ship....

By now you most likely have heard or read about the Cruise ship Triumph that was stranded in the Gulf of Mexico. What is absurd is how many over-reacting fools are saying "see, thats why I'd never get on a cruise ship" or "man what's with these ships" - really? Folks, every day thousands of people get off of cruise ships that had no issue at all. Do you want every single cruise that went fine headlining the news? Comments that somehow attempt to lay a gauntlet for cruise lines based on a few incidents and even fewer deaths is absurd. You still by far have much greater odds of dying in a car crash than being stranded on a cruise ship. Try to keep things in context. dumb

Out of work SEAL that popped UBL.

SEAL Not sure how I feel about this. A Navy SEAL who was on the team that killed UBL is upset that he left the Navy and can't find a job, lost his healthcare, etc. Here is my issue, you knew what you were getting when you joined the Navy. It wasn't a secret. And those who speak to "merit" pay, that doesn't seem fair. What about the other SEALs who didn't get pulled for the job, are they less heroic? Not really. Just not sure how to feel about this.

Media, stop telling women to lose weight.

Watching the news today I saw no less than five tiny, boney, frail, malnourished women complaining that Adele and Kelly Clarkson that they needed to lose weight and go on a diet. Sweet Lord, when will you string-beans understand that rail thin IS NOT ATTRACTIVE. Just because your Women's magazine and LA/NY designers keep telling you "size zero is hot", doesn't make it so. Ask the average guy you meet what he thinks is attractive, trust me, it isn't the fact that you could throw a bowling ball between your thighs and not hit anything. Sir-Mix-A-Lot wasn't lying in the 1980s. Men "don't want none unless you got buns hun", that is a fact. Stop telling women that are confident and unbelievably attractive on multiple levels that they "need to lose weight" because they don't fit in the pre-conceived mold you have shoved yourself into. I do find it incredibly funny that the skinny women called out Adele and Kelly, but didn't have the...

Have we learned nothing?

Over the last 100 years that America has been arming rebels in different lands, have we learned nothing? Each and every time that the US has "advised" or provided weapons, it has come around within 10 years to slap America. Conflicts in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Libya are just a few and now we're considering Syria. Wonderful, that only means that in 10 years we will need to fight the very rebels we assisted. This has happened without fail in the Middle East because America and her allies can't seem to understand that the Governments of these areas are centuries behind the "westernized" world. It is high time the common collective of Westernized lands gave up on these desert nations until they are willing to survive on their own. The sheer amount of financial support America and other Nations provide to these lands is staggering for what we receives; and as the United States and Canada fortify their need for oil locally in the Western H...

Sorry, you aren't an expert.

Testimony from Giffords or her husband on Gun Violence in America is completely illegitimate because neither is an expert on gun violence in America. As cold and calice as it may seem, being shot or being a Marine doesn't make you an expert on violence - not by any stretch of the imagination. And while Mrs. Giffords coming out and talking about her experience is legitimate her interpretations on why violence exists and how to lessen it is, for lack of a better word, irrelevant  Sorry but being shot doesn't make you an expert on violence any more than owning a gun store does. Wish it was that simple to solve, but it isn't.

Storms - part of the Climate Confusion Series.

Haven't seen it yet but I can't imagine it is far off; blaming the Winter Storm in New England on "Climate Confusion". Should see something soon saying how this type of storm has never happened before, even though it didn't break a record in New Jersey from 2 years ago. Should be interesting. How about we consider the fact that weather, above everything else, is cyclical. What does that mean? It's based on patterns, patterns that repeat. And that is what this is. Climate Confusion is confusing because people seem to discount that we know less than a fraction of anything about weather on the planet. We've been keeping records for a little less than 300 years and in that time, we've changed are methods continuously. And as we change, we attempt to re-write the history - could anything be more off? We don't like the past figures, so we change them? Seems legit. Weather changes, sometimes it gets really bad and sometimes it does little if anything. W...

Can't Tax Your Way out of Debt - Baltimore MD

Well they've always said "we'll become Greece" and Baltimore Maryland is proving that. Years of liberal progressive Democratic policies in this fallen City have now finally brought it to the brink of bankruptcy  The City finds itself down to around 612,000 citizens, from its peak of nearly 1 million, and has the highest tax rates in the State; yet a 2.2B debt. For years Baltimore Maryland has heightened taxes on nearly anything it could, in fact, it would require a waiver from the State to raise them any higher. There are also 16,000 vacant homes, Baltimore is a miniature Detroit. Nearly 1/4 of the Citizens of this City live in poverty, amazing considering the City has been Democratic since the dawn of time. Now Baltimore finds that health care policies and pensions will need to be reconsidered yet again. Baltimore ranks 9th overall in murders in the United States, ahead of Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Long Beach, Miami, New York, Oakland, Philad...

The Hypocricy in Gun Laws

Image
All perpetrators of mass-murder are mentally deficient  no one could argue otherwise. There is no sane person that would shoot a Senator, run into a movie theater and open fire, nor attack 20 school children. Yet, politicians in the most liberal states, including states where these acts of violence occurred  are spending little if any time on mental health. In fact, of all the States looking to limit law abiding citizens rights, none are actually addressing mental health. Amazing America.
