Remember When (Halloween Edition)

Remember when Halloween movies were scary; when Werewolves and Vampires were arch enemies and very, very evil. It seems as though Werewolves and Vampires today have been made out to be some metro-sexual experience. It started with "Interview with a Vampire" where Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise turned blood sucking savages into some type of artsy, makeup wearing and emotional mess. I think it was better when you had Bram Stockers masterpiece turned film in 1992 - evil vampire kills people - that was it.

Onto Werewolves and their cover of Teen Magazine failure in the "Twilight" series. Remember the Wolves in 'The Howling', 'An American Werewolf in London' and 'Wolf' - those were serious beasts; vicious frightening and not to be hugged, kissed, dated, longed for, etc..

Vampires and Werewolves have seen some recent films portray them in the original bad ass light: The Underworld series comes to mind. At least in those semi-recent films the beasties were just that instead of some pasty girls love interests. I don't know, maybe I'm getting old but I like it more when the bad boys are actually bad and you're all rooting for the hero, not the hottie. In closing, I will throw in some photos and movies that portray these two in their real light. Enjoy.

1. UNDERWORLD

2. The Howling

3. An American Werewolf in London

4. Fright Night (both the original and 2011 one are good)
