Iran...drone....that is for to laugh.
Iran Downs US Drone - reverse engineering it
Iran, really? Does anyone buy your bull crap? For the last 65 years Iran has had oil fields built and maintained by the Chinese and Russians because they can't figure out how to take advantage of their own resources. They still use 1960's military technology, and rely on the scraps Russia is done playing with. They haven't been able to build a Navy since 1979 and they have no ability to maintain control of their populous aside from complete brutal fear. Does anyone in the world, with common sense, believe there is any possible chance Iran reverse engineers a circa 2007 US Drone? No. That is the answer, plain and simple. So why worry? Well, you should worry because the folks that could do something with US technology (our real adversaries) Russia and China, can do what Iran claims. Now, the odds that they would share that knowledge with Iran are slim to none. China would be far more likely to share with N. Korea in an effort to spy on US/Japanese forces vice allowing Iran to have a technology it couldn't utilize and most likely would have demolished (essentially creating a duck hunt for US capabilities). Russia could easily do something with the drone technology and would use it against its on-going problems with former Soviet Bloc nations.
But Iran, really is no credible threat to do anything with the technology aside from sell it, or run and get coffee for the Chinese and Russian engineers looking at it. Oh and the notion that they some how "downed" the aircraft, total non-sense. If that capability were true (even in Russia/China had the capacity) C/R would never proclaim it; they're too good at the spy game.
Iran however, is dumb enough to promote anything. It really is a shame for the Iranian people who seem far smarter than the regime that controls them. The US should really be questioning Lockheed and the designers who signed off on a drone that lacked a capacity to self-destruct. I'm sure they're working on that now.
