Avoiding altercations with Police has nothing to do with race, everything to do with respect.
Like every profession on the planet there are good and the bad, those that do their job at 100% with the best results in mind and the other group which is simply collecting a pay check. The only difference is that when you run into a Police officer that is a member of the bottom half, you run the risk of having a terrible experience.
But, lack of interest in the job hardly explains the modern day drama of police harassment and worse, shootings, but the part that seems to get left out entirely is a Citizens personal responsibilities. While you have every entitlement to be treated professionally and fairly by authorities - those charged with enforcing the laws legislatures have created - equally you are expected to provide a professional response. The problem with distrust of police does not come from skin color, as the Al Sharptons of the world would like you to believe, it comes from attitude, respect for authority and basic comprehension of cause and effect. If you are rude, expect a rude response, if you are aggressive, expect an aggressive response. It is not a police officers job to simply put up with your egregious behavior, and more so if you choose to physically assault an officer, you have made a premeditated decision to escalate the event. This escalation will eventually lead to your demise, either in incarceration or worse.
Now responsibility for this apparent societal failure can be pointed in several directions, none of which is "slavery", "race" or "fair treatment". There is a definitive reason why you don't see these "outcries" about police in suburban or rural areas, where there are plenty of blacks, whites, hispanics, etc., an the reason falls on politicians. Yes, those classic law creating scapegoats.
Cities by far have more defined, or supposedly documented, racial bigotry in police related altercations - why is this? Well it is simple. The culture that Cities have created. A culture of dependence, a lack of respect and accountability to your environment, lack of individuality and lack of ownership. You know why you don't see riots in the streets of a random suburban town of middle lower middle class residents, because they don't want the hassle of having to rebuild their homes, take time off work, risk injury and so forth. Now, blacks, whites, browns, etc, all live in suburban towns they all share the same news, so why is it that they aren't in arms over Ferguson? Would you like to know why, because they followed facts, not emotion. It wasn't skin color, it was facts, facts showed that there was not nearly enough evidence to indite nor even charge in any form, Officer Wilson. Michael Brown attacked a Police Officer in his squad car, Michael Brown was shot and ran away, the Police Officer chased him, Michael Brown stopped and came after the Officer, the Officer shot him again, killing him. Michael Brown, earlier in the day, robbed a store clerk. These are the FACTS. Not theories, not stories, not impressions but facts. They are, indisputable. And voice to the contrary is simply, false..a myth, a lie, a faux-reality. This is why you don't see absurd, riot like violence in the real America. Only in specific Cities.
You want to know the difference between a protest and a riot? Riots involve masks and nightfall, protests involve the media and daylight. When you burn down your town, tip over cars, murder a man with a hammer (as occurred in Ferguson Monday Dec 1 2014 because he is white), you are not 'upset with a verdict', you are an Anarchist and should be treated as such. It isn't about the color of your skin, it is about your unwillingness to be responsible for anything: your actions, your life, your ambitions, your circumstance, nothing.
The day the real black America stands up and tells the rioting, scared, black America that they are responsible for their actions, America will turn a corner. Until that day, no amount of "blaming white people" or "blaming the system" will do anything. The "change" you're looking for, is within yourself, your view of the world, your accountability and responsibility for yourself. Not in someone else.
