Trump

If we know anything about President-Elect Trump it is that he is the first ‘President to be’ that doesn’t have a party affiliation. Yes, he is labeled a Republican, but his past 40 years would tell you a completely different story. This is a man that gave gobs of his money to Democratic candidates (to include the Clintons - in fact 8 times when she was in NY, John Kerry 7 times and even Joe Biden), he spent his own dollars creating jobs and industries hiring every conceivable minority. Trump didn’t start limiting his donations to Democrats until 2011. That is a heck of a lot of money to the other side. He has flipped directions on multiple issues and has never backed a party line. That makes him dangerous, dangerous to party politics. What it provides Americans is opportunity.
For the first time you have a President that truly owes nothing to a Party. He is already a Billionaire, so he is considerably harder to buy, and in fact, he took a pay cut to become the Leader of the Free World. He has never held a political office, which should be impressive and honestly what Americans should be amazed by. He had an outright fist-fight with the Republican Party, slayed the Bush family, took out any conservative idealist and then went on to thrash a 30+ year Party Matriarch that seemed all but unstoppable when backed by 97% of the media outlets and possibly more of Hollywood - Clinton owned pop-culture.
He was truly a underdog.
So for the future, instead of railing, crying and protesting, consider what is possible. A leader of the Free World that has no concrete party obligations. America has an amazing chance to finally not play party politics. Trump is pretty simple, he is a narcissist that believes in the law, not necessarily what the laws are but that laws should guide action -whether it be laws that allow you to skirt taxes, or laws that allow for same-sex marriage. He doesn’t put his opinion in front of the law - which is why the DNC couldn’t find dirt on him in what may have been a harder led investigation than finding out where Bin Laden was.
Instead of immediately making a Satanic demigod out of Trump, consider not embracing the man but the notion that you have a non-affiliated leader. Instead of ranting and raving in opinion blogs about racism (completely unfounded) and hatred, try coming up with plans and paths to ideals you’d like to see in America, and put that on the table. If anything Trump has proved he leans to loyalty, so bashing him for the next few months is probably the most assured way of having a vengeful enemy for 4 years. Want better environmental policy, come up with no-nonsense provable strategies and not emotion. Want a better health care system, don’t cry about a party or a passion, draw up a plan. Come on America, put on your big boy pants and go to work.
