Government has no control over oil...

President Obama will say today in Miami that he is doing great things for long term energy independence such as reducing use and increasing production, in the same breath he will then say that the President can do little to stem the tide of high gas prices. What President Obama will forget to mention is that the recent reduction in use and increase in production are the results of a terrible economy, of which he has been at the helm for 3 years/with a fully Dem party Congress for 2, and he will neglect to mention that oil prices are driven far more by speculation, than events. He will focus on Iran and claim that the Middle East and China are to blame, what he will neglect to recall is that he cancelled a pipeline that would have crushed speculators hopes and dreams. The sheer thought of a new oil pipeline through the US would have sent the dollar per barrel price plummeting to the basement. Currently, oil price per barrel is a little higher than Saudi Arabia wants it. The Saudis are...

Syria

The things I think I think about Syria: 1) it is a nation, with a government and a standing army 2) it has every right to run its nation the way it wishes, however, the 'world' has every right to do no business with that nation 3) it is killing its people in a civil war, not unlike the United States, France, Spain, England and others have done in their pasts. So I'm wondering why the US would consider "arming" Syrian rebels to fight the governments Army? Isn't that essentially a mercenary style declaration of war without having to involve Congress or actually 'declare' war? Guess I missed something in history where the world decided that as long as your troops weren't fighting directly, it wasn't a war. Secondly this theory that Countries can call for other Countries leaders to step down. I'm sorry but when did the world elect the leader? They didn't, so that said, get out of another nations business. There are no 'world police...

Help your Congressman.

I purpose that we get together as a nation and order up 535 copies of Any Rand's "Atlas Shrugged". Never has there been a more obvious turning point in American history where ingenious founders have crossed paths with societal woes. For those of you familiar with the text, you'll see the easy comparison to modern times; to those of you not in the know the book covers essentially the legislative destruction of private industry for the sake of a greater good, and the horrific result. The book is over 1,100 pages long so you'll need to be dedicated to read it..though it is much shorter than the average legislative bill. And if you can't seem to stomach the idea of actually using your brain to paint pictures in your mind, you can always watch the partial version of the story in the movie "Atlas Shrugged Pt. 1" which tells the story nearly verbatim. I strongly recommend anyone who dares call themselves a Libertarian or believes at all that maybe priva...

RaceDeck floors

Image
These floors have got to be one of the best things ever created for someone who wants a cool looking garage floor without having to pay a fortune for it. Forget that paint crap, which sucks, and has to be redone every few years, instead you should really try the RaceDeck floors. I've had mine for nearly 5 years now and today I decided to actually clean it, for the first time. What did I clean it with? Well, dish soap..hot water..a towel. It took me about an hour to do 400 sqft, including drying it. The amazing part is how great the thing looks after I've beaten the hell out of it. I've parked 6000lbs trucks on it, over 9,000lbs in combined vehicles, snow blowers, changed oil/coolant on it, and it just keeps on kicking. Took me less than an hour originally to put down. I don't do product endorsements - but this is awesome! http://www.racedeck.com/index.html

It isn't all bad news...

I’m on a search, a search for a new agency that doesn’t report 70% bad news while overlooking anything good or positive happening in the world. I’ve tried the usual suspects – CNN, FoxNews, USAToday, Washington Post, NY Times – and all of them have let me down. For the last week I took time to count how many of the “Top Stories” were either about Death, War, Violence, or general discourse. I then looked specifically for “good” or “educational” stories that simply updated the reader on what is going on in the world. Sadly, nearly 7 out of 10 stories were either about Political Smears, Murder, Investigations into Murders or general things going wrong in the world. Well, frankly, I’m getting tired of this. I would love to find a news source that didn’t focus on the bad, instead just told you what was happening without spinning fear. The only media outlet I’ve found so far is my local paper, which of course focuses on local issues. It is really disappointing America, let’s do better. Ins...

More medical rhetoric.

Image
Today there was an entry on CNN Health discussing how 90% of Americans eat too much salt and how that is responsible for higher blood pressure, and essentially death. Well, this is completely, utterly untrue and unfounded by the medical community. All this so called knowledge is based on small studies from the 1940's that have been disproved over the last 50+ years. This is just like the egg yolk discussions of the early 90's. It is a shame that new agencies seem to feel OK with blatantly misleading the masses; if you weren't intelligent enough to look it up, you'd believe it. Fact of the matter is salt in general consumption in no way changes how your blood pressure or overall medical function will be. Yes, salt or sodium retains water in your body, so you could simply get 'fat' from water retention or cause other issues based on excessive water, but salt itself is not the problem. I really wish the so called medical community would do their job. BS CNN ...

Nice work CNN, race already in 2012 election?

Is it just me or can the over 35 crowd not let race go from their general banter of why things don't go their way? I work with a group of 20 some year-old people and never once is race brought up in regards to, well, anything. But when you read CNN and other liberalish news agencies it is always some topic, whether crime or politics or way of life, race is brought up. It is like they just can't get over it. They can't accept that the digital age has all but replaced skin tone. Nobody cares that someone is black or white, they care what they say and do. Race is a concern of those born before 1975, other than that, it doesn't matter. This topic throws back to an interview I saw of a old S. Korean man who said "Korea will not be one until all those who remember the war are gone". I kind of see today's "racism" in the same light. Until those folks of the early 60's and 70's are gone, we'll continue to hear how 'race' plays some r...

Man on the Moon

Why did we never head back? After the mid 1970’s the United States, and apparently the world, decided to never return to the moon. Why? It seems odd, doesn’t it? The “space race” of the 1960’s, the scientific value of exploration of a lunar environment, the sheer dollars spent, why would we not go back? Consider the information we could bring back from the moon, weather sensors, high-resolution cameras, web feeds, everything and anything you could think of, why have we not gone back? Now I’m not one of those ‘theorists’ that thinks we never made it to the moon in 1969 – I believe we did. I do however wonder what happened up there and why we abruptly stop going after Apollo 17 and budget cuts under Nixon (which totaled less than 50 million saved). More importantly, why has no one else gone? You can’t tell me that Russia both during and post Cold War doesn’t want to say to America “hey we were there last”. Why wouldn’t China have attempted something? The idea that nobody wants to go t...

GOP Not talking about Unemployed.

I saw a headline in USAToday that said "GOP Not talking about unemployed when focusing on Economy". Well, there is a very simple reason for this. There is absolutely no sense in supporting the unemployed, you need to make companies (i.e. the economy) more successful so there is a need to hire the unemployed. Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson both advocated for no unemployment funding in the foundation of the United States, because they knew that paying people to do nothing simply leads to paying people longer to do nothing. Yes, it sounds insensitive to say this to a person who has lost their job, however this is reality. To fix unemployment, you have to fix the economy first. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/story/2012-02-02/gop-field-not-focused-on-unemployed/52938474/1
