Fixing Detroit - stopped by Jesse Jackson.
Detroit has finally collapsed and is now under the fiscal resurrection of Kevyn Orr. Kevyn (I honestly don't know why he doesn't spell his name correctly) is charged with helping Detroit out of a horrendous fiscal problem - the City is Bankrupt. Decades of Democratic and Union leadership have driven the City entirely off the Fiscal Cliff and plummeting towards the bankruptcy bottom.

Kevyn began by looking at schools that cost hundreds of thousands to run, yet are only at 50% or less actual occupancy. His approach was to close these schools and realign districts. But what really has "union-esque" psudo-leaders like Jackson upset is the fact that the Governor, a white man - which is probably the problem - has hand picked a man to supersede elected officials in order to clean up the City.
Now generally, I'd agree it isn't right to supersede elected authority, however in a dire case such as this where leaders have dramatically failed the citizens it is necessary to take action. It isn't as if the City is on the cusp of collapse, it has collapsed.
Detroit was once the 4th largest City in America, with nearly 2M residents - it is now home to high murder rates and about 600,000 people. It has leveraged itself to the hilt, can't take out loans and can't fund promises - LEADERS HAVE FAILED.
The Governor of Michigan makes an outstanding point:
“The governor encourages citizens to come together to be part of the solution to move Detroit forward towards everyone’s goal of a creating a vibrant, thriving city … Continued litigation and organized disruptions will only delay the revitalization process and cause the eventual solutions to be more difficult.”
Jackson offers no solution, just a pesky nuisance to stop progress. Jackson is a throw back to the days of old, like a 1950 Cadillac. While once a Champion, Man of Status, Leader, and force for Good - he is now a failed follower, backer of buffoonery and a hinderance to the future of America. He is a man who has passed his prime, a failed father and now a failed figurehead. Jackson is in the way of success and progress and Citizens should realize that. People are trying to help this City, don't allow one mans non-sense stop it.
