Not a divide, a changing of the Guard.

There has been some hype recently over Sen. McCains trip to Syria by members of his own party. Some have pointed to this as a divide in the GOP, I say, more of a changing of the Guard. Sen. Paul addressed McCain's suggestion to send weapons to Syrian rebels by saying "we don't even know who they are" so of course, why would we arm them? Makes complete sense. You see, McCain's logic is based on cold-war era thinking, think 80's Afghanistan, Iran-Contra, Bay of Pigs, etc. the type of thinking where 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'. While that method of doing business may  have worked nearly a half-century earlier, it no longer applies. America finds itself not so much challenged by Nation States as individual groups and sects.

You see the Democratic Party doesn't have these types of ideological divides because they are a social-progressive based party, another way of saying they are college kids permanently seeking their "graduate degree". They have never really had to grow up, there was alway a parent (ex. GOP) sitting in the wings to help direct them when they really screwed up. They spend without thinking about consequence, blame others for their plights and have the audacity to act as if they're the most intelligent one in the room and others are simply beneath them. But all that aside, the GOP has a youth movement, and by youth I mean under-50 years old. This is what happens over time. Things change, people grow, and new ideas take a hold. I for one see no reason what so ever for America to spend money arming Syria - it is high time, HIGH TIME that the middle-east dealt with its own failures and Northern Africa through the Mediterranean need to get their collective act together.
