Shuttle Program Over.

The US Space program hit a milestone today, the final STS launch. At over 130, that is a pretty impressive record for a design that has been active since the 1970's. I'm not saddened to see this program die however. For too long it has served as nothing more than an expensive science experiment and repair facility; hauling parts for the ISS.

I saw an article on CNN asking why America had lost interest in space. The answer is simple, the same missions every single time, or at least the perception of such. America is also a country of lack luster educational performance and anything that doesn't involve a reality show seems to have no interest. Maybe the "Real Astronauts of Florida" may have improved their standings?

Long story short, it is the ending of an era. The United States still dominates in the final frontier and if we don't 'move on' we will never achieve anything new.
