Social Networks, Twitter, Blogs and......Texting?
Social Networking + Twitter + Blogs
So Facebook looks to finally have a real rival, possibly..maybe..perhaps, in Google+. The debate can easily be had between who will come out on top at the end of the day, but one thing is proven completely, social networks are here to stay. Makes one wonder why some individuals refuse to 'join' as if it is simply a passing fad or something the 'kids' do. While I'm sure there were people who weren't down with the phone when it came into existence, but eventually, it consumed all.
Social networks like Facebook or Google+ allow for simple discussion and thoughts to be had between a person and their friends, that isn't to say that some individuals don't go ballistic with the technology..having their Twitter account update seven different sites and such. Twitter has to be one of the most misunderstood tools, at least by me. I've never seen the utility in 160 words randomly placed with #, @ and re-tweet symbols. If someone could tell me the benefit of Twitter, aside from self-indulgence and allowing egotistical Hollywood clowns the ability to watch the sheep follow, I'd love to know it.
Texting
There is nothing more useful, in my view, than texting. The ability to reach out to a person and ask a very explicit question and get an answer is wonderful. Gone are the 20 minute chat sessions on the phone where you don't even remember to get a response to the reason you called. I probably send 1000 texts a month, many of them useless, but all of them on 'my time'. That is to say, when you text you don't feel the need to reply immediately, you can reply when it works for you and you can cut a 15 minute dialogue down to 5 lines and 2 minutes. I don't set my voicemail, and I rarely talk on the phone at all. I have to say, to the kids, Texting #WINNING @CharlieSheen. Maybe someone will understand that?
