Removing the Confederate Flag
While at first blush removing the Flag seems like a generally good idea, I mean, Germany doesn't go around flying Nazi banners as a tribute to their History but removing a symbol of a past transgression doesn't fix a current symptom. The issue we have in the United States is we continue to perpetuate racism at the highest level, this is why brand new generations of Americans go from not acknowledging race, to bluntly seeing it.
We live in a Nation to pretends to wish to pass a race based history yet we have many laws that quite frankly exclude people because they are white. When we do this as some type of attempt to equalize a past slight, we only continue the issue by slighting the next generation of white people. You can't blame a symbol, for a perception any more than you can blame a street name as a reason for a revolution. You can't hide from history, but you absolutely can stop highlighting it and perpetuating a trend of Government tilt based on race.

It turns out the Millennial generation isn't nearly as open-minded as it thought. However, what these numbers don't say is that over 70% of people (almost regardless of generation) don't harbor racist views.
