Megan McCain's comments about Tea Parties
This is truly a girl who knows nothing about what the Tea Parties are about. She is an embarrassment to her generation and youth around the world with her political commentary. She shouldn't assume that because her father is a career politician that she somehow knows more than others when it comes to politics. She also seems to view herself as 'elite' in her knowledge. If she ever had an independent thought, I'd be shocked.
I would like to ask Megan if she has ever actually attended a Tea Party event or talked to people who have. She'd come to find that a large percentage of those involved are 30 or younger, not 60 and older as she pretends to claim. It is really sad to see individuals used as pawns like this. A wise person once told me; new generations must repeat the mistakes of the old because no matter how clearly you are taught, people thrive on personal experience and personal loss. This is apparently true for my generation and the following. I remember my dad saying things like "you damn kids think you know everything", well apparently, the youth and their parents are believing that now. That somehow the kids (i.e. those younger than 30) somehow know what is best. You think because you grew up with Playstation and an iMac you are somehow superior? You believe your use of Twitter is some amazing feet, sad but apparently the accepted truth.
This isn't just in politics and I'm using Ms. McCain more for symbology than anything else. She embodies what is wrong with American culture. This feeling of youth superiority. Maybe I was lucky enough to just miss the "everybody gets a trophy" generation, thankfully. Sadly though, the kids aren't the only ones to blame. These useless parents who chose the path of being their child's friend instead of parental figure is a major problem in current day America. A land that once thrived on providing the best of the best, simply said "why struggle?" lets just give everyone a trophy.
The current generation of young workers (20-25yr olds) seems especially inept. While I wouldn't go as far as to say all, I would say a fair percentage feel a sense of entitlement in the workforce. They, generally speaking, look at work as just something they need to do for money with no real pride or goal. They feel that they should get more for less and achieve faster than their predecessors on the sheer basis of being younger. What seems to be lost in translation is this, the ones before you have worked harder, had more experiences, and most likely accomplished far more than those coming on board now.
It is sad that finding a young worker who excels is the exception, not the norm. Hard work has been seriously undervalued in the last 20 years. Who is at fault? It doesn't really matter as the situation is here. The problem is, as seen in government, the workforce and society America has become lazy. Constantly looking to 'someone else' for assistance. You can find this nearly everywhere you look, it isn't hard. From social programs by the government, to that guy down the street who moved just enough snow during the blizzard to shove his car out to get to McDonalds. Sadly, WE THE PEOPLE have become unbelievably lazy and bewitched by our suposed superiority.
