Trayvon vs George
For starters, Zimmerman's biggest error in judgement was following Trayvon after authorities had told him to leave him alone. That right there was a fatal error by George. That right there should be grounds for 1st Degree Manslaughter. There will be incredible outrage when George is found not guilty, as he will be, because that is justice. For those too dumb to identify with the 4 malice degrees of Murder in the United States - here is the one that may have applied: 3rd Degree Murder.
Degrees of Murder in the United States 1)Intent to Kill 2)Intent to inflict grievous bodily harm short of death 3)Reckless indifference to an unjustifiably high risk to human life (sometimes described as an "abandoned and malignant heart") 4)Intent to commit a dangerous felony
So in this case, the Prosecution, if it insisted to push for a Murder charge, has to prove malice and the best they could have hoped for is 2nd/3rd degree. This again, much like Casey Anthony, much like O.J. Simpson, is an over-reach by the prosecution for the sake of headlines. Mark my words, George goes free on these counts. He has to. To prove he had intent to inflict grievous bodily harm is impossible and riddled with shades of doubt. Again, the prosecution in the country is driven by media, instead of law.
Now on to Trayvon and the following groups that have affiliated themselves with him. First off, his mother showed amazing resolve in an interview with Bill O'Reilly, stating time and again, she wanted justice and if justice found George innocent so be it. I find it hard to believe any of these folks running around "protesting" carry the same honor. And to the individual attempting to make this a complete white/black scenario, you're completely lost. I can only say that this type of thinking comes from the masses born before the late 70's. If you watch those spinning up the protesters, they are all individuals in their mid-late 40's. The kids following them, are doing so because that is what the youth does best.
We as a society have a tremendous issue dealing with the fact that pound-for-pound violent crime arrests by the FBI in the United States are a majority of white people, not black. In fact if you actually view the violent crime stats put up by the FBI you will see this, however, the media insists on making it sound as though only blacks have these problems. Simply..not..true. Now what I heard one person say made a ton of sense. A black op ed stated "how come blacks aren't outraged with blacks over black on black crime? We only see marches when a non-black kills a black". Many things I like about his point. One, they are black, not African-American. Let me set the record straight, Dave Matthews of the Dave Matthews band is African-American (and he is as pale as the come). He was actually born in Africa, and came to the US. Skin tone is not indicative of "culture", sorry. Secondly his use of "non-white", thank you for recognizing that the person who shot Trayvon was NOT WHITE.
Now onto the "he was shot 'cause he was black". No, he was shot and killed by a moron that insisted on disregarding police direction and getting into an assault scenario with a man with a gun..
My prediction on what happened that night: Trayvon was walking down the street, George followed him in his car. George thought he looked out of place as no one else was out and he was covering his face. George was told to stop following him, he disregarded this. Trayvon most likely confronted George for following him, George then got out of the car. A fight began. Trayvon got George on the ground and started beating on him, George thought Trayvon was going for his weapon, George pulled the trigger. Game over.
All in all his death is tragic, George's life will be a tragedy since. But America, at least portions of it, are weaker for their actions taken after this incident. I thank the mother of Trayvon for at least having calm in the face of tragedy.
