Props to POTUS

Well even a broken watch is right twice a day, and so was Obama after all with Libya. It seems the non-use of ground troops (which I agreed with) and GOP officials buttressed by DoD disagreed with, was the right way to go. Though it could hardly be called a no-fly zone effort, since NATO routinely bombed convoys of troops not aircraft, and it was lead by the French, it proved a very successful way to increase the odds of one side in a Civil War. Now you can debate back and forth the legitimacy of a win when you had overwhelming force on your side, but the Rebels are now in charge and Libya will see a new chapter in their history opened after 42 years. Whether that chapter is a good one or bad one remains to be seen. To all of those that would say "well the US forced regime change" the same could have been argued by many European nations a few centuries ago, circa 1776; when without the aid of the French, the 'rebels' in the colonies would have lost to England and the...

Blog responders

As media has grown more and more outlets have allowed for 'responses' to their articles or posts. Here is the thing, this does nothing more than make people look ignorant and rude. When you read some of these threads, which I can rarely make it through, you'll find that they all lead in with some rude dialogue that is then expounded upon. Really, do we need this? It would have made the media outlet look more credible to simply not allow responses from the masses.

CNN Polls...got to love them.

CNN, which is suppose to be a news organization, runs interesting polls from time to time and depending on the outcome they want, lets the poll run for a certain time span. Take their latest poll "Who do you back, the Tea Party or OWS protesters?" Well, CNN wasn't happy when the original poll had the numbers too close so they've let the poll ride for about 4-5 days. Since then the margins have been set at somewhere around 70/30 in favor of the OWS. What seems lost here is the fact that anyone in the world can vote in this poll; yet that will not stop CNN from quoting it at some point with the caveat "not scientific"; as if a scientific poll of 1400 people somehow tells you the pulse of the nation. Anyway, point is....well...I'm not quite sure but I do think it is interesting that they choose certain topics to 'let ride'.

WSP vs Tea Party

So the Wallstreet Protesters (WSP) are being compared to the Tea Party; aside from the very obvious differences in resources, occupations, financial status, age, education, focus, etc., there is one glaring commonality and that is the disdain for corporate welfare. This is actually a trait that both groups share. And, since the RNC and DNC have backed either part of the spectrum, I'd love to see a joint Tea Party WSP rally discussing corporate welfare. This would seriously shake the established leaders as they have backed and mocked the parties. What WSP probably doesn't realize is how much they agree with the Tea Party. Consider this, the Tea Party is against government involvement (aka, bailouts), the Tea Party was against Union Bailouts, which if the WSP paid attention, they'd realize it is exactly that which was the genesis of the Chrysler and GM bailouts. The WSP should also have a problem with the recent billions spent on "Solar failures", though that migh...

Vick in Atlanta this Sunday night, how quickly we forget.

Back in 2007 Michael Vick was accused of running a dog fighting ring, when the accusations came out the owner of the Atlanta Falcons (at that point Vick's employer) asked Michael for a private meeting. During that meeting Arthur Blank, the Falcons owner, asked Michael personally "are you guilty of these charges?", Michael's response "no sir". As time would eventually tell, Michael lied, he lied directly to the face of the organization and essentially his boss. Now, 4 years later, Michael Vick returns to Atlanta as the starter of the Philadelphia Eagles. With the history lesson over, I can't believe the latest comments by Dan Reeves (one time coach and originator of the Vick pick for Atlanta). Reeves came out on the NFL network a day ago and claimed that "Atlanta turned its back on Vick", really..really, are you nuts Dan? What exactly would you want Arthur Blank to do, back a guy who lied to his face and made him look like an asshole? Is that ...

"Pass Jobs Bill Now" - Obama

President Obama gave a speech the other night in which he routinely said to Congress, essentially Republicans, 'pass the jobs bill'...well that would be wonderful, if there was one. The President acted as if he had given Congress a plan and they weren't acting, he hasn't provided a thing to Congress..but a speech. For some reason instead of focusing on cutting tax loopholes and fixing the tax code, which everyone in congress is behind, he insists on pushing for spending. It is ridiculous. Does he want America in a constant state of Limbo; it sure feels like it. The Presidents spending plan has gone from 300B to 450B in less than a week, just imagine how high it goes by the time he actually puts pen to paper. It would be great if the President would stop posturing and just do his job. If he would simply re-write the tax code to a flat-tax system, removing income tax and establishing an "everyone pays" mentality, he could literally save a second term. It wou...

Business wins every time.

Big Oil came in where politicians have let America down. Since we cry daily about jobs and revenues, the oil firms presented a plan to America, a plan that could save America. If given the ability to use Americas resources oil quoted the following: the industry says it could deliver 1.4 million new jobs, boost tax rolls by $800 billion, and increase domestic energy production almost 50%. Not only the obvious benefits to the American economy but also Big Oil promised benefits to security, "Under that scenario, the country could be producing 15.4 million barrels of oil a day -- not far from the 19 million barrels it currently consumes.Natural gas production would rise by 30%"; pretty impressive. It would be wonderful for America if politicians put the bullshit aside and actually did what helps America and stopped bowing to minority opinions on the environment and lunatic constituents with money. http://money.cnn.com/2011/09/07/news/economy/oil_jobs/index.htm?iid=Lead...

How much POTUS....

Obama's new job proposal, which we find out about tonight, started off around 300B now it is already rumored to be over 400B. Where are we getting the money? Why is it that we can't find money to help out good borrowers, schools, homeless or FEMA, but we can find BILLIONS to push through for political reasons? Does anyone question this?

POTUS needs to take his own advice.

Today POTUS rambled on in a campaign speech, labeled a jobs speech, to tell labor union leaders in Detroit that the Republicans had to put party politics aside and do what is right for America; but what Obama feels is 'right' for America is more debt and more spending. He actually offered up more spending on infrastructure while cutting taxes, how does that work? Oh, that's right, it adds debt. Apparently for POTUS 15T in debt isn't enough. Obama needs to listen to his own words and cut his constant party gibberish. This constant Liberal thinking, this Progressive non-sense of simply spending forever at the cost of America needs to END. What POTUS misses is that this is not the GOP fighting him, it is America fighting him. Setting up campaign speeches on Americas dime while talking to your labor union friends is not what is best for America.

Getting back to the basics.

Over the last few years of watching the economy tank and people generally get in a bad mood when it comes to money matters (at least those that are responsible), I decided to look around and see what I didn't need. I found out, as I examined my life from a financial position, I was carrying a lot of 'stuff' around I know longer needed. I walked through the basement and found out that after three house moves I was holding on to things I'd collected that I really no longer needed, nor cared about. With reality finally clear on what I needed and what I didn't, I began selling stuff; either on eBay or Craigslist and in some cases just giving it away. I ended up making thousands of dollars, it was amazing, and cleared up a lot of extra space both in the house and in my family's life. Now it isn't as if I sold off stuff I needed or relied upon, it was simply things I'd gathered over time; ladders, accessories, electronics, etc. And in some cases it was hob...

CNN "Opinion" people are some of the most arrogant and elementary folks around.

I try to read most reputable news groups opinions sections, even if I disagree, simply to be educated enough to know when they aren't; however recently some CNN folks have really driven me crazy. For starters, this Tea Party stuff and CNN opinion folks apparent need to ridicule and "name call" anyone they assume is a "Tea Partier" makes me sick. It is as if they think they are high and mighty, beyond repute and can say whatever they want, no matter how asinine it is. They also feel a need to mock Christianity, though not Islam, mock heterosexuals at all costs and by default comment in a negative way against anyone with a "R" in their title, regardless of topic. Some things done by "Tea Partiers" and Republicans are obviously worth discussion, however the constant downgrade to an elementary school level argument is disgusting. If you've ever watched the FIVE on Fox News you've seen the difference between Conservative mocking and Libe...

Hurricane Irene...

What a dud. This was pitched last week as an impending destructive force that would destroy the mid-Atlantic an East Coast of the United States; failure. Not that I'm upset the Eastern side of the continent didn't get destroyed, but this over-reactionary actions by our Society is an epidemic. What was suppose to hit the US as a strong Cat 3, landed as a weak Cat 2 and went directly to a Cat 1; now at 10am on Sunday it is a Tropical Storm. At last count, 9 people have died either directly or in-directly because of Irene. Here is the problem, when the next Hurricane come around people will NOT take it seriously.

5.8 Earthquake in Mineral VA and you would have thought the world ended.

I'm watching the news and there is a 5.8 Earthquake in VA that could be felt all the way to New York. You literally would have thought the Earth was coming to an end the way the media covered it and how the Civilization responded. The Congress was evacuated as was the Holder and parts of the Dept. of Justice, Media people wouldn't shut up and Twitter lit up like a Christmas tree. Folks, this literally wasn't enough to set off a car alarm, let alone, end the Planet and warrant the type of coverage it received. God forbid there is ever a true disaster (like the impending Cat 4 Hurricane coming up the East Coast this week); people aren't going to know what to do..aside from you know, hit up Twitter and film random sh-t with their phones.

College Sports.

Miami sending 13 players to prostitutes, LSU constantly breaking the law and general disregard for policy in general aside, what is the deal in America with College Sports? Today I saw an ad for "College Colors Day", Sept 2nd, and it made me think...when was the last time the Nation celebrated a Colleges' ability to educate? Are Colleges places of advanced education or athletic development houses? I get the money aspect, I'm not missing that, but I'm wondering when America decided the money and the sports were the most important parts. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge sports fan, but sports as a career not as an aspect of an educational system. In far too many cases athletes are treated as cherished objects of revenue via the NCAA and the schools that support it. I'm just curious how long America will keep this obsession.

Wind farms, Hydrogen and the Volt.

Recently it was released that in the last month less than 150 Chevy Volts were sold; if you don't know what the Volt is, it is Chevy's attempt at a nearly 100% electric car. Much like the Nissan Leaf, there was a ton of hype but no go. The Volt rang in around 44,000.00 which was lessened by a usual Government attempt to enforce green, a 7500.00 rebate. Absurd. Wind farms were recently reported to be killing multitudes of birds, including on average 80 Golden Eagles, a year in California. Though for some reason the EPA has never filed a single suit on them; interesting. Hydrogen, the one true power source that the US should be utilizing is always put on the back burner. It has proven itself as an efficient form of power, it works with moderately altered internal combustion engines and it is completely possible...NOW. We need to get our Environmental Act together.

Low Mortgage Rates

I am so tired of hearing about low mortgage rates and no follow up as to the fact that because of the inability of those who are upside down to refinance, they can't take advantage. It is impossible for the correct people, those who have done things right, to capitalize on the low rates; thus it is a complete misconception that rates are low. If people were able to take advantage, the rates would be up and everyone would be making money. It is about time the Government, those who screwed up Freddie/Fannie, figured that out.

It isn't the vacations stupid.

Everyone on the Republican side is pissing and moaning about Obama going on vacation, everyone on the left defends it as "all Presidents do it". Here is the difference; every President since FDR has primarily used their own compound, or prior residence, as their retreat outside of Camp David. Whether it was Camp David, Kennebunkport, "Camelot", Gettysburg or 'Crawford' Texas, it has always been a primary compound BEFORE Presidency. During the POTUS vacations to Hawaii, Europe or the multitude of other vacation spots..cough cough Martha's Vineyard..cough. All of these are completely paid on the People's dime. That is the issue, not the vacation itself...or at least it should be the issue. Stop the stupid arguments over 'vacation time', instead focus on who is paying for it.

Hey Buffett, you realize you can donate as much as you like right?

I find it arrogant, ignorant and plain offensive when Warren Buffett comes out and declares, on behalf of ALL Billionaires, "we should pay more taxes". This coming from a guy who gives himself a 100,000.00 salary just to avoid being in the highest tax bracket and takes the rest of his some 50 BILLION net worth in Capital Gains (taxed at a meager 15%). There is a blank line, right on everyone's tax form, that allows you to "give" money to the US Government. If Mr. Buffett is feeling so generous, why doesn't he take advantage of this option? Easily, it is easier to spend others money. Now that good Old Warren has made his money, and his reputation, he wants to kill the exact path he took..slash and burn it if you will. Sounds like a "reborn" Christian telling you the pitfalls of drinking and sex after they spent 20 years carving that path. Absurd. If Warren really cared so much he could easily pay himself a higher salary, say 20 Million in taxable ...

Rick Perry and Liberals.

What amazed me when I listened to Rick Perry announce he was running for the Republican ticket wasn't his speech, it was Liberal dialogue that went as follows: "...so he created jobs in Texas, they are jobs paying minimum wage, like the kind you would find at Walmart..". Nothing sounded more pompous, arrogant, disrespectful or entitled as these types of comments. This arrogance has taken over the Democratic party, in particular the Liberal left. How dare a person during the current "Great Recession" and nearly 10% unemployment for the last 3 years, say something so pompous, as if these jobs are beneath them. That is exactly what is wrong with America and why Liberalism continuously fails. For some reason there is this belief that some people are entitled to a better life and anything that makes that difficult, or impossible, must be wrong and corrupt. I also heard comments about how poor the schools are in Texas. Well, if history says anything, does anyone rec...

Why a Reset button is the only way out.

At this point everything we have considered "solid" about investing, is gone. All the rules, out the window. Thanks to numerous factors ranging from Terrorist attacks, dependencies on Foreign Governments to Government demanding firms like Freddie/Fannie Mac allowing for certain segments of the unreliable population to obtain loans; we are now in serious financial trouble. This is something we can't tax or flood with funds to find a way out. We need to be DRASTIC. Government, who got involved in Real Estate and created false boundaries in a Capitalist system, is now relying on the same system to self balance...that is impossible. It is like doing an Algebra equation and then all the sudden being handed a brand new variable and asking the past formula to answer it. Not happening. Government mismanagement is what has made a normal decline an insurmountable impasse. One possible solution is creating a false bottom, or essentially a reset button limiting loss. This is someth...
