Fox News or CNN?
Ah, Fox and CNN. Where to start. Each one has its own bias. I was, for a very very long time an avid CNN viewer, literally the TV would be on CNN when I got home from work and stay there. Until the 2008 elections. I could not believe how much CNN backed the Democratic party. Almost to a point of annoyance. For every on RNC member on a panel there would be 2 DNC, usually one black man and one woman. The RNC person was almost always a white male. What I couldn't believe was the entire lack of respect for the opposing candidates on the Republican side. Now before you go "damn right-wing Republican" understand these FACTS:
- Member of the Democratic Party
- Libertarian
- NRA Life Member
What does that equal? Me. Not a single word up there said Republican. In fact, I've never voted for a presidential republican candidate. Maybe my lack of line loyalty allows me to have an open mind where others seen inherently sheltered. I have very strict guidelines for leaders; 1) be honest. If you want to raise taxes because you can't figure out how to solve problems, say that. 2) be conscious of the constituents first, then the party line 3)defend the principle that the people guide the government. That about sums it up. That is all I want from a leader. I don't ask that you have every answer, I don't ask that you be a staunch conservative, nor do I want you as a bleeding heart liberal.
Now back to Fox and CNN. As I stated, I was an avid CNN fan for years. Love Lou Dobbs, hate Wolf Blitzer, can't stand Jack Cafferty. I did like James Carvelle until he became a Clinton lap dog and began back pedaling on every principle he thought he owned. I have books by Bill Clinton, Jesse Ventura, Chris Rock, Barack Obama and James Carvelle. These sit right beside Ron Paul and Thomas Paine. I consider it a balanced library. Now when CNN decided to be completely in the bag for the American Idol types, meaning all hype--no substance. I couldn't stand it. I began finding articles on-line and sticking with that. Then I went to Foxnews.com, believe it or not before 2008, I'd never visited the site, never watched a single Bill O'Reilly show. I found that on Fox News, while some had obvious bias, like Ann Coulter others seemed very 'reasonable' meaning they simply viewed the issue and discussed it. They always regarded it as opinion on the topic, not fact. I could appreciate that, even when I thought they were just being dumb (O'Reilly does that a lot). However, they never claimed it to be news, simply stating a fact then giving opinion on it in a balanced way.
As I began watching Fox news I began hearing all these individuals bashing Fox news as some GOP stopping pad (as if CNN wasn't the equivalent for the DNC). However, I have yet to see it. I've watched multiple 'personalities' crush the GOP, stating Bushs huge flaws, vast over-spending in Congress and mis-management of Iraq.
To me those that blindly say "oh, you must like Fox news" are the direct equivalent of a SouthPark episode where the kids of SP go to Afghanistan and run into little Muslim children. The Afghans chant 'down with America, Infidel', then the SP kids ask 'why?". There was silence and no answer. That is the state we're in now.
