Trazan isn't offensive, no matter what CNN says.

I wonder if the reason most new movies are either reboots or horrible is the result of Hollywood (or some in it) being so damn worried about offending someone, they don't write a screenplay - or produce it. Tarzan was a fictional character written about in 1912 (yes, over 100 years ago) - written by Edgar Burroughs who was born 10 years after the US Civil War. He was born in Chicago and his father was a Civil War vet.

Other things happening the year this came out:

New Mexico became the 47th State
The Republic of China
Titanic departs on its maiden voyage
The First Eagle Scout
Woodrow Wilson is elected President
Eva Braun is born
Bram Stoker died

Tarzan, the story...goes something like this: Tarzan is the son of a British lord and lady who were marooned on the Atlantic coast of Africa by mutineers. When Tarzan was only an infant, his mother died, and his father was killed by Kerchak, leader of the ape tribe by whom Tarzan was adopted.........
It isn't racist, it is a fictional story. STOP BEING OFFENDED BY EVERYTHING - or ya know what, write your own shit but don't be shocked when nobody wants to see it (or give you an award for it, so I'm sure you can create a new awards show for shitty work with low to medium revenues).

THE RANT:

I suppose white people could start acting offended at everything, like white males being called a majority when they aren't (women make up more than 50% of the US population), or white people under-represented in most athletic activities, or specific award/culture ceremonies/celebrations (BET, Black Engineer awards, Hispanic history month, etc.) - remember that blacks make up less than 18% of the United States. I could be offended that my son will have to work harder to get into colleges that are allowed to use race as a reason for acceptance, or that - Lord forbid he is heterosexual - he will immediately have to defend his position on LGBT communities. Whites could be upset that nearly all their historic accomplishments are now somehow belittled in the context of 2016 vice the time they occurred. Perhaps whites could talk about how there are more white people killed by police than blacks, or that black-on-black urban crime is all but hidden from mass society when discussing profiling, statistics, policing or firearms. Whites, well those in the middle-class, could complain that a litany of programs exist to improve minority students education while whites are left to fend for themselves. Yes, this list could go on and on and on. With as much rational as any argument for a culture -- yes white is a culture and a quite successful one. Now, would it make sense to focus on these differences in perception, no, it is non-constructive and does nothing to improve society. Likewise, these holdouts from the 1960's who keep proclaiming their day-to-day struggles need to realize they are in the vast minority, almost non-calculable in number. Find a better way to spend your time.
