Iraq War is done....

Today marks the last of the US troops in Iraq - this date was laid down years ago..and is finally here. What is absurd is how Americans are handling this great day. Instead of celebrating their return, the immediate response was partisan political non-sense. Some times Americans make me sick.

XL Keystone Pipeline

Please tell me why this pipeline is a "bad" thing? It brings jobs, money and control to Canada and the United States over energy. To think that the President is not on board with this because of his environmentalist door knockers in San Francisco is disgusting. He is pissing away the future of America over a new 4 year campaign. How about you take a minute to think about something other than your party, Mr. President? This pipeline is 1700 miles in length and secured by Canada (a life-long friend to the US) and the United States. It is insane that it is even up for debate on whether it is happening. How you implement may be something you work through as you go, to make sure you do as little environmental damage as possible, however doing it..should be a fore gone conclusion. If we combined Canadian oil-sands with natural gas in the United States (4 times the amount of natural gas exists in the US as compared to ALL of the oil in Saudi Arabia) - energy would become truly secu...

Tebow vs "American Muslims"

There was an editorial cartoon in the USA Today which showed a family in love with Tim Tebow praying but scared to death of the show All American Muslim; and it eluded to hypocritical Americans. What it didn't include was the fact that Tim Tebow is a football player who shows his religion, Tebow isn't an exploit from Hollywood hell bent on being provocative. I feel the same way about a Muslim 'show' as a I would one titled "Christians in Egypt", it is simply stupid. Your faith should be something you know in your heart, you shouldn't feel the need to force others into embracing it by calling them shallow, scared, insecure or moronic. And if you do feel that need, don't be surprised when others push back. While people should be all tolerant, they aren't and no amount of 'shoving' it down their throats will ever make them more compassionate.

"Stars who lost their looks"

Foxnews runs this reel about "Stars who lost their looks" - it should simply be called "We're conceited and don't like people aging". If you look at the photo lines you'll see Warren Beaty, Jack Nicholson, Mel Gibson and a host of others. These are all folks who gained fame in their 20's and 30's and are now nearing either 50 or 80. If I look half as good as some of them at 80 years old, I'll be impressed. Just one more reason America is going down the crapper. Another American Fail

NHTSA wants a "cell phone ban"

The National Highway and Transportation Safety Association wants a national ban on cell phones in cars (hands free or not) because they believe cell phones cause such a distraction that they need removed. What they don't tell you is that all traffic accidents in the nation for a year that may or may not have been related to cell phones totaled.....less than 3,500. In the nation. While this number isn't small, remember that they aren't confident cell phones played a role and that tens of thousands of accidents occur every year; making this a small overall percentage. Not to mention the fact that one of their key 'examples' was that of a 19 year old who was on his phone while driving his truck and caused essentially a 38 person accident. What they glean over was the fact that in his state, it was illegal for him to be on the phone already. So what NHTSA wants to do is create another law, on top of a law. If the driver already broke the law, why would another law stop...

Iran...drone....that is for to laugh.

Iran Downs US Drone - reverse engineering it Iran, really? Does anyone buy your bull crap? For the last 65 years Iran has had oil fields built and maintained by the Chinese and Russians because they can't figure out how to take advantage of their own resources. They still use 1960's military technology, and rely on the scraps Russia is done playing with. They haven't been able to build a Navy since 1979 and they have no ability to maintain control of their populous aside from complete brutal fear. Does anyone in the world, with common sense, believe there is any possible chance Iran reverse engineers a circa 2007 US Drone? No. That is the answer, plain and simple. So why worry? Well, you should worry because the folks that could do something with US technology (our real adversaries) Russia and China, can do what Iran claims. Now, the odds that they would share that knowledge with Iran are slim to none. China would be far more likely to share with N. Korea in an effort to ...

Blind man wants to use 2nd Amendment Right?

Image
For starters I'm a huge Libertarian (before it was cool to be one) and a very strong advocate of individual responsibility, small Government, and individual/state rights..HOWEVER, this is ridiculous. I'm sorry, I get that you are a US Citizen, however, your inability to see forces me to say "no" you shouldn't own a fire arm. Oh and to bookend that argument is the fact that you're a drunk. Really folks, the drinking alone would stop you from buying a weapon if you could see. America, lets stop backing a position simply for the sake of backing it. Oh and hear is the trump card "when he was handling a .357 Magnum he owned and shot himself in the shin." - NY Times . Sorry boss, no weapons for you.

Black Friday

America the Beautiful, well not quite. What is Americas obsession with Black Friday shopping? It is so absurd, it is hard to contemplate. Clowns line up in the middle of the night to face off on crap they don't need but want to go in debt for, when they could have simply sat at home with a cup of coffee and a laptop achieving the same results. The down side, aside from the obvious standing in line at night, is these clowns fight one another over crap. Some 5'3" Latina chick actually pepper sprayed people to get an XBox and called it 'competitive shopping'. Really? That is too bad because society calls it assault. There were also goofballs in New York who decided that since a store didn't open at midnight..they would loot it. Great. America, you sure do shine during the Holidays. Though I have to say, I don't entirely blame the people..well OK..I blame them 99.9999% but not 100%. Media creates an absurd frenzy prior to this apocalypse. The feed directly i...

Props to POTUS

Well even a broken watch is right twice a day, and so was Obama after all with Libya. It seems the non-use of ground troops (which I agreed with) and GOP officials buttressed by DoD disagreed with, was the right way to go. Though it could hardly be called a no-fly zone effort, since NATO routinely bombed convoys of troops not aircraft, and it was lead by the French, it proved a very successful way to increase the odds of one side in a Civil War. Now you can debate back and forth the legitimacy of a win when you had overwhelming force on your side, but the Rebels are now in charge and Libya will see a new chapter in their history opened after 42 years. Whether that chapter is a good one or bad one remains to be seen. To all of those that would say "well the US forced regime change" the same could have been argued by many European nations a few centuries ago, circa 1776; when without the aid of the French, the 'rebels' in the colonies would have lost to England and the...

Blog responders

As media has grown more and more outlets have allowed for 'responses' to their articles or posts. Here is the thing, this does nothing more than make people look ignorant and rude. When you read some of these threads, which I can rarely make it through, you'll find that they all lead in with some rude dialogue that is then expounded upon. Really, do we need this? It would have made the media outlet look more credible to simply not allow responses from the masses.

CNN Polls...got to love them.

CNN, which is suppose to be a news organization, runs interesting polls from time to time and depending on the outcome they want, lets the poll run for a certain time span. Take their latest poll "Who do you back, the Tea Party or OWS protesters?" Well, CNN wasn't happy when the original poll had the numbers too close so they've let the poll ride for about 4-5 days. Since then the margins have been set at somewhere around 70/30 in favor of the OWS. What seems lost here is the fact that anyone in the world can vote in this poll; yet that will not stop CNN from quoting it at some point with the caveat "not scientific"; as if a scientific poll of 1400 people somehow tells you the pulse of the nation. Anyway, point is....well...I'm not quite sure but I do think it is interesting that they choose certain topics to 'let ride'.

WSP vs Tea Party

So the Wallstreet Protesters (WSP) are being compared to the Tea Party; aside from the very obvious differences in resources, occupations, financial status, age, education, focus, etc., there is one glaring commonality and that is the disdain for corporate welfare. This is actually a trait that both groups share. And, since the RNC and DNC have backed either part of the spectrum, I'd love to see a joint Tea Party WSP rally discussing corporate welfare. This would seriously shake the established leaders as they have backed and mocked the parties. What WSP probably doesn't realize is how much they agree with the Tea Party. Consider this, the Tea Party is against government involvement (aka, bailouts), the Tea Party was against Union Bailouts, which if the WSP paid attention, they'd realize it is exactly that which was the genesis of the Chrysler and GM bailouts. The WSP should also have a problem with the recent billions spent on "Solar failures", though that migh...

Vick in Atlanta this Sunday night, how quickly we forget.

Back in 2007 Michael Vick was accused of running a dog fighting ring, when the accusations came out the owner of the Atlanta Falcons (at that point Vick's employer) asked Michael for a private meeting. During that meeting Arthur Blank, the Falcons owner, asked Michael personally "are you guilty of these charges?", Michael's response "no sir". As time would eventually tell, Michael lied, he lied directly to the face of the organization and essentially his boss. Now, 4 years later, Michael Vick returns to Atlanta as the starter of the Philadelphia Eagles. With the history lesson over, I can't believe the latest comments by Dan Reeves (one time coach and originator of the Vick pick for Atlanta). Reeves came out on the NFL network a day ago and claimed that "Atlanta turned its back on Vick", really..really, are you nuts Dan? What exactly would you want Arthur Blank to do, back a guy who lied to his face and made him look like an asshole? Is that ...

"Pass Jobs Bill Now" - Obama

President Obama gave a speech the other night in which he routinely said to Congress, essentially Republicans, 'pass the jobs bill'...well that would be wonderful, if there was one. The President acted as if he had given Congress a plan and they weren't acting, he hasn't provided a thing to Congress..but a speech. For some reason instead of focusing on cutting tax loopholes and fixing the tax code, which everyone in congress is behind, he insists on pushing for spending. It is ridiculous. Does he want America in a constant state of Limbo; it sure feels like it. The Presidents spending plan has gone from 300B to 450B in less than a week, just imagine how high it goes by the time he actually puts pen to paper. It would be great if the President would stop posturing and just do his job. If he would simply re-write the tax code to a flat-tax system, removing income tax and establishing an "everyone pays" mentality, he could literally save a second term. It wou...

Business wins every time.

Big Oil came in where politicians have let America down. Since we cry daily about jobs and revenues, the oil firms presented a plan to America, a plan that could save America. If given the ability to use Americas resources oil quoted the following: the industry says it could deliver 1.4 million new jobs, boost tax rolls by $800 billion, and increase domestic energy production almost 50%. Not only the obvious benefits to the American economy but also Big Oil promised benefits to security, "Under that scenario, the country could be producing 15.4 million barrels of oil a day -- not far from the 19 million barrels it currently consumes.Natural gas production would rise by 30%"; pretty impressive. It would be wonderful for America if politicians put the bullshit aside and actually did what helps America and stopped bowing to minority opinions on the environment and lunatic constituents with money. http://money.cnn.com/2011/09/07/news/economy/oil_jobs/index.htm?iid=Lead...

How much POTUS....

Obama's new job proposal, which we find out about tonight, started off around 300B now it is already rumored to be over 400B. Where are we getting the money? Why is it that we can't find money to help out good borrowers, schools, homeless or FEMA, but we can find BILLIONS to push through for political reasons? Does anyone question this?

POTUS needs to take his own advice.

Today POTUS rambled on in a campaign speech, labeled a jobs speech, to tell labor union leaders in Detroit that the Republicans had to put party politics aside and do what is right for America; but what Obama feels is 'right' for America is more debt and more spending. He actually offered up more spending on infrastructure while cutting taxes, how does that work? Oh, that's right, it adds debt. Apparently for POTUS 15T in debt isn't enough. Obama needs to listen to his own words and cut his constant party gibberish. This constant Liberal thinking, this Progressive non-sense of simply spending forever at the cost of America needs to END. What POTUS misses is that this is not the GOP fighting him, it is America fighting him. Setting up campaign speeches on Americas dime while talking to your labor union friends is not what is best for America.

Getting back to the basics.

Over the last few years of watching the economy tank and people generally get in a bad mood when it comes to money matters (at least those that are responsible), I decided to look around and see what I didn't need. I found out, as I examined my life from a financial position, I was carrying a lot of 'stuff' around I know longer needed. I walked through the basement and found out that after three house moves I was holding on to things I'd collected that I really no longer needed, nor cared about. With reality finally clear on what I needed and what I didn't, I began selling stuff; either on eBay or Craigslist and in some cases just giving it away. I ended up making thousands of dollars, it was amazing, and cleared up a lot of extra space both in the house and in my family's life. Now it isn't as if I sold off stuff I needed or relied upon, it was simply things I'd gathered over time; ladders, accessories, electronics, etc. And in some cases it was hob...

CNN "Opinion" people are some of the most arrogant and elementary folks around.

I try to read most reputable news groups opinions sections, even if I disagree, simply to be educated enough to know when they aren't; however recently some CNN folks have really driven me crazy. For starters, this Tea Party stuff and CNN opinion folks apparent need to ridicule and "name call" anyone they assume is a "Tea Partier" makes me sick. It is as if they think they are high and mighty, beyond repute and can say whatever they want, no matter how asinine it is. They also feel a need to mock Christianity, though not Islam, mock heterosexuals at all costs and by default comment in a negative way against anyone with a "R" in their title, regardless of topic. Some things done by "Tea Partiers" and Republicans are obviously worth discussion, however the constant downgrade to an elementary school level argument is disgusting. If you've ever watched the FIVE on Fox News you've seen the difference between Conservative mocking and Libe...

Hurricane Irene...

What a dud. This was pitched last week as an impending destructive force that would destroy the mid-Atlantic an East Coast of the United States; failure. Not that I'm upset the Eastern side of the continent didn't get destroyed, but this over-reactionary actions by our Society is an epidemic. What was suppose to hit the US as a strong Cat 3, landed as a weak Cat 2 and went directly to a Cat 1; now at 10am on Sunday it is a Tropical Storm. At last count, 9 people have died either directly or in-directly because of Irene. Here is the problem, when the next Hurricane come around people will NOT take it seriously.

5.8 Earthquake in Mineral VA and you would have thought the world ended.

I'm watching the news and there is a 5.8 Earthquake in VA that could be felt all the way to New York. You literally would have thought the Earth was coming to an end the way the media covered it and how the Civilization responded. The Congress was evacuated as was the Holder and parts of the Dept. of Justice, Media people wouldn't shut up and Twitter lit up like a Christmas tree. Folks, this literally wasn't enough to set off a car alarm, let alone, end the Planet and warrant the type of coverage it received. God forbid there is ever a true disaster (like the impending Cat 4 Hurricane coming up the East Coast this week); people aren't going to know what to do..aside from you know, hit up Twitter and film random sh-t with their phones.

College Sports.

Miami sending 13 players to prostitutes, LSU constantly breaking the law and general disregard for policy in general aside, what is the deal in America with College Sports? Today I saw an ad for "College Colors Day", Sept 2nd, and it made me think...when was the last time the Nation celebrated a Colleges' ability to educate? Are Colleges places of advanced education or athletic development houses? I get the money aspect, I'm not missing that, but I'm wondering when America decided the money and the sports were the most important parts. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge sports fan, but sports as a career not as an aspect of an educational system. In far too many cases athletes are treated as cherished objects of revenue via the NCAA and the schools that support it. I'm just curious how long America will keep this obsession.

Wind farms, Hydrogen and the Volt.

Recently it was released that in the last month less than 150 Chevy Volts were sold; if you don't know what the Volt is, it is Chevy's attempt at a nearly 100% electric car. Much like the Nissan Leaf, there was a ton of hype but no go. The Volt rang in around 44,000.00 which was lessened by a usual Government attempt to enforce green, a 7500.00 rebate. Absurd. Wind farms were recently reported to be killing multitudes of birds, including on average 80 Golden Eagles, a year in California. Though for some reason the EPA has never filed a single suit on them; interesting. Hydrogen, the one true power source that the US should be utilizing is always put on the back burner. It has proven itself as an efficient form of power, it works with moderately altered internal combustion engines and it is completely possible...NOW. We need to get our Environmental Act together.

Low Mortgage Rates

I am so tired of hearing about low mortgage rates and no follow up as to the fact that because of the inability of those who are upside down to refinance, they can't take advantage. It is impossible for the correct people, those who have done things right, to capitalize on the low rates; thus it is a complete misconception that rates are low. If people were able to take advantage, the rates would be up and everyone would be making money. It is about time the Government, those who screwed up Freddie/Fannie, figured that out.

It isn't the vacations stupid.

Everyone on the Republican side is pissing and moaning about Obama going on vacation, everyone on the left defends it as "all Presidents do it". Here is the difference; every President since FDR has primarily used their own compound, or prior residence, as their retreat outside of Camp David. Whether it was Camp David, Kennebunkport, "Camelot", Gettysburg or 'Crawford' Texas, it has always been a primary compound BEFORE Presidency. During the POTUS vacations to Hawaii, Europe or the multitude of other vacation spots..cough cough Martha's Vineyard..cough. All of these are completely paid on the People's dime. That is the issue, not the vacation itself...or at least it should be the issue. Stop the stupid arguments over 'vacation time', instead focus on who is paying for it.

Hey Buffett, you realize you can donate as much as you like right?

I find it arrogant, ignorant and plain offensive when Warren Buffett comes out and declares, on behalf of ALL Billionaires, "we should pay more taxes". This coming from a guy who gives himself a 100,000.00 salary just to avoid being in the highest tax bracket and takes the rest of his some 50 BILLION net worth in Capital Gains (taxed at a meager 15%). There is a blank line, right on everyone's tax form, that allows you to "give" money to the US Government. If Mr. Buffett is feeling so generous, why doesn't he take advantage of this option? Easily, it is easier to spend others money. Now that good Old Warren has made his money, and his reputation, he wants to kill the exact path he took..slash and burn it if you will. Sounds like a "reborn" Christian telling you the pitfalls of drinking and sex after they spent 20 years carving that path. Absurd. If Warren really cared so much he could easily pay himself a higher salary, say 20 Million in taxable ...

Rick Perry and Liberals.

What amazed me when I listened to Rick Perry announce he was running for the Republican ticket wasn't his speech, it was Liberal dialogue that went as follows: "...so he created jobs in Texas, they are jobs paying minimum wage, like the kind you would find at Walmart..". Nothing sounded more pompous, arrogant, disrespectful or entitled as these types of comments. This arrogance has taken over the Democratic party, in particular the Liberal left. How dare a person during the current "Great Recession" and nearly 10% unemployment for the last 3 years, say something so pompous, as if these jobs are beneath them. That is exactly what is wrong with America and why Liberalism continuously fails. For some reason there is this belief that some people are entitled to a better life and anything that makes that difficult, or impossible, must be wrong and corrupt. I also heard comments about how poor the schools are in Texas. Well, if history says anything, does anyone rec...

Why a Reset button is the only way out.

At this point everything we have considered "solid" about investing, is gone. All the rules, out the window. Thanks to numerous factors ranging from Terrorist attacks, dependencies on Foreign Governments to Government demanding firms like Freddie/Fannie Mac allowing for certain segments of the unreliable population to obtain loans; we are now in serious financial trouble. This is something we can't tax or flood with funds to find a way out. We need to be DRASTIC. Government, who got involved in Real Estate and created false boundaries in a Capitalist system, is now relying on the same system to self balance...that is impossible. It is like doing an Algebra equation and then all the sudden being handed a brand new variable and asking the past formula to answer it. Not happening. Government mismanagement is what has made a normal decline an insurmountable impasse. One possible solution is creating a false bottom, or essentially a reset button limiting loss. This is someth...

So the Tea Party isn't liked, so what, neither were the Revolutionaries in 1776.

I hear liberal opinion after liberal opinion speaking on the 'disdain' for the Tea Party. In most cases it is followed by mocking, laughter, name calling and regards of utter stupidity to the position. I hear this and wonder, do these folks realize that around 1770 the position to revolt from England was not 'well liked'; and that no where near the majority favored leaving the crown? In fact, most felt that they were British and to add to this, the earlier settlers actually sailed (mostly) as indentured servants to England in order for free passage? Troop quartering and taxes are always pointed to as the tipping point for the inevitable declaration of independence from England: however these things were actually done in the name of protecting the people, if not the crown. The English quartered troops in the Colonies to protect against border disputes with the old English enemy, the French. The notion was to protect its assets, and that included its people. In realit...

How the Tea Party is saving America.

Sending shock waves into the spines of liberals, democrats and republicans alike, the Tea Party is the only thing holding Moodys credit rating of the US up. The reason Treasury Bills are still a gold standard, even given the reason credit downgrade, is the Tea Party. Foreign investors know that groups like the Tea Party and hardcore conservative groups in America are the only things that keep the debt within any range of closure. Without the recent Tea Party elections, America would have easily raised the debt ceiling and continued to spend. It is the Tea Party that halted it. And while it is more than accurate to say some Tea Party demands are excessive, given the current climate and the realization that things take time, it is the Tea Party that is saving America currently. When the first media element finally reports the effectiveness of the Tea Party in the global economic view of the United States, we'll finally be on the way to an effective Government and perception. But ...

Beyond Frustrated.

Well the US Government has failed its people again. For the first time since it inception in 1917 the United States does not have a AAA credit rating across the three boards; while Moodys still ranks the US as a AAA investment, S&P has lowered it to a AA+. This is a critical review of the nations ability to be a sound investment and should scare every American. This is a legitimate outside authority stating to the world that the US isn't what it use to be; while we all knew it already this is a stark reminder. America needs a tremendous turn in actions if the country wishes to succeed again. For too long America has pulled away from faith, pushed to individual identity, political correctness in the face of obvious discontent. Focus on what is truly necessary and what is a lavish extra and a push back to charity is what is needed. The entire course of America since the turn of the 20th Century was geared at Progressive policies; a strange amalgamation of Socialism, Communism...

Why do Liberal Americans hate rich people?

Day in and day out in the media you will find some new comment, opinion or action trying to slam it to the "rich". Apparently people with any amount of money over what John Doe earns have no right or reason to benefit from the Nation they live in. Routinely the rich are thrown under the bus in some adolescent attempt to create complete and total class warfare. The rich, that rag tag group of folks that pay the bulk share of American taxes that help fuel the glutton government. The rich, the same group that donates more money collectively than any nation in the world. The rich, that company or person you currently work for. The rich, the guy across the street with a nicer car than you. The rich, those selfish individuals who spend their days buying investments in the world. The rich, the ultimate scapegoat. Here are just a few recent headlines slamming the "rich": - USA Today - There shouldn't be tax holidays because they only benefit the wealthy - Fox Ne...

Turnitin.com and College Peer Reviews.

In my recent course load from the Univ. of Maryland I was instructed that all projects must be reviewed through "turnitin.com"; a general engine to validate that a persons work is relatively original. Here is the issue, my instructor demanded a score of less than 3%. Well, when students are writing papers where they quote a source multiple times, the ranking goes up. So I received a 3% on a source because some chick at UCLA decided to use my same source, but quote it about 15 times. How exactly is the 3% assessment fair? If this chick and her one paper was not entirely dependent on my source, I would have been fine. Man I hate school.

Democrats just keep saying no.

Has anyone noticed that of the three bills the House has passed to the Senate, Reid and the Senate have shot them down immediately; but for some reasons the President and Liberals continue to act as if the Republicans aren't budging. Would someone please tell me what plan the Democrats have put forward in the House? Please. I've seen nothing since that useless 'Gang of 6' who wanted to remove mortgage deductions..which would have all but slaughtered the Real Estate market. Reid hasn't even allowed debate on plans, not even the ability to discuss. It is unbelievable. And to pretend that the Government will default in August is non-sense. There is more than enough money in the kettle to pay all serviceman, elderly, bond holders, etc.. The Government enjoys frightening people. It is very sad. Amazingly, Obama has made Bush look good. I never thought I would be able to say that, but Obama's complete detachment from the true Average American is staggering. He rea...

Obama Fans

For those that think Obama has done a 'good' job as President, I'd like to ask for a few elements to back that assumption up. What exactly, specifically, is better in America? What is better for you? What has he done to make America look like an even better place to live in the future? I've yet to see an Obama supporter be able to answer these types of questions without it inevitably turning into a partisan "they aren't letting us" discussion. I guess I just don't understand what is better in America. Unemployment is remarkably higher as is the National Debt, America is in danger of losing its credit status in the world, we're now in a third war in Libya, the Real Estate market hasn't moved an inch in the three years he has been in office, the Obama-Care law is a complete debacle and America just lost 1.3 Billion on the sale of taxpayer owned Chrysler. The President had the government in his pocket up until the last election cycle, owni...

"Free" birth control?

Really, now we want to offer women..excuse me..poor women, free birth control. Really? If you can afford your Starbucks coffee or that pack of cigarettes or cell phone, I do believe you can afford birth control. When do women become responsible for their ovaries exactly? Why must everyone else have a premium increase so that women can get free pills? Question, do men get free condoms? I mean, that is birth control right. So every time you buy a pack of Trojans, it's free per the government, right? I mean, that would be fair. How about the government gets the hell out of an individuals life. I heard all these goofy excuses like "it would limit teen pregnancy", no it will not. Do any of these clowns remember their teens, or possibly the first time they had sex? Probably not. I recall my first experiences, and that long nauseating walk to buy your first pack of condoms. Um, that is part of the responsibility of growing up. How about government gets out of your day-to-day l...

Gang of '6' non-sense statement

If you actually looked at the details of this Gang of Six plan, that Obama likes, does the following: Reduce deduction for mortgage interest Reduce deduction for charitable contributions Reduce tax credit for kids Reduce tax deduction for retirement contributions Please explain to me why anyone would bother to own a home if there was no, or even limited, deduction capability on interest paid? I pay over 60K a year in interest on my mortgage, now they want to reduce this at a time when the Mortgage industry and real estate is dead? So basically, they don't want you owning a home. They want to keep money in certain hands and force you into renting? Class warfare, got to love it.

Android vs iOS

This is about my experience with the iPhone 3S, iPhone 4 and now the LG Revolution running Android 2.2.x. iPhone Pros: If you're an Apple fan, the iPhone really is top notch and works exactly how you would expect it to. The operating system goes hand in hand with what you'd want to find in a Mac, and syncs very well with nearly every Mac application. The iOS, via the App Store, is pretty much endless as far as form and function and because of proprietorial iTunes, the phone also serves as a replacement for any iPod or MP3 player you may have owned. The iPhone is very popular, so nearly any car with Bluetooth will sync with it and though most can't do much with messaging or the contact lists, the phone works well in a car. iPhone Cons: Screen is small, given the rest of the smartphones running around in the world, and the proprietary app store means you're limited to those items Apple 'says' you can have. This really proves problematic for things like ...

Why did the Colonies Revolt?

When the colonies decided to essentially pull away from the English crown in the early 1770's there were a few things going on; one - the British were quartering troops in the colonies to makes sure they could control them, two - there was no formal representation for the colonies in England, three - selective taxation, four - less than 20% of the colonies citizenry wanted to leave the crown. Now these are all rough representations of the 'why' of the eventual revolution of 1776, however, there are very odd parallels to modern America. One, many people feel as though they aren't represented in Congress, mainly because Congress has become party focused and not people focused. Another oddity is that we've now had two states say they'd like to either leave the Union or split from another State (Texas, and now "South California"). And now America seems more than happy on selective taxation, at least the majority of polls would say that Americans are fine...

Stop the LIES Whitehouse

The latest from POTUS was "...if the debt ceiling isn't raised, I can't be sure that Social Security checks go out..", well here are the facts: Monthly the US brings in over 200B in revenue Social Security costs $49B per month Military (all active, reserve, retired) costs $5B per month Please explain to me how these entities do not get paid, regardless of a debt ceiling? What the Administration is doing, completely, is taking an old play from the Republican party, causing panic. The Administration wants the nation in fear, because they have the FED in their back pocket. The Fed announced today that Interest rates will stay where they are for an extended period of time and that more money could be pumped into the economy (say Hi to HUGE inflation numbers in the next 5 years). This is nothing more than class-warfare based fear, that is all. POTUS is pinning the "middle-class" whoever they are, against the "rich"..you know, those making $25...

Lord of War

Image
Wow, credit to the Obama Administration for making Nicholas Cage look like a pre-cursor to a US administration with the quote "...your boss, the President of the United States, who sell more guns in a day than I do in a year...". In case you haven't heard, Operation Fast and Furious was a gun running scheme run by the ATF and DoJ that went TERRIBLY wrong; to the note that a Border Patrol agent got killed by their own illegally sold weapons. The way the story plays out is that FBI was dissuading DoJ from doing its job because they had informants who were gun running to Mexico. So instead of arresting the intended F&F individuals, they let them go. Now thousands of guns transferred to drug cartels almost like kids in a candy store. So what does DoJ do, crack down on legal gun sellers in border states . These people are absurd, absolutely absurd.

Peaceful Protesters...

Whatever happened to real protectors? You know , like the kinds from the 50's and 60's? Now we have these watered down, low brow, "student based" poon protesting. I saw a pic yesterday of some out of work dbag laying down in front of a tank. That might have been worth something if, I don't know, the tanks were moving. That tank hadn't moved since it got there, and there was no threat of it doing so. These nonsensical ramblings on twitter and goofy interpretations by so called news organizations make me want to puke. For starters, Mubarak, the current leader of Egypt, has been a butchering pos for decades but now he is spun as a friend? Please. He is far from, and considering egyptians helped with 9/11 Im sure he is a real pal. And how come every 30 something douche with a facebook page has 'studied' in Egypt? And what does that mean, studied? That you got drunk, took six credits in basket weaving and raped a goat? Nobody ever scores the credentials of ...

Libya, Libya, Libya

For years and years we've heard that the United States should not play the role of world "police" yet somehow every time there is a problem, people want the US in the region. I have to give props to the President lately for pushing for the EU to standup and put the pressure on Libya, instead of saying "whoa here comes the US military". Libyas residents have now asked "US where are you?", really? Every time we are there you bitch about how we have some Islmaic war going on. You can't have it both ways, you either want us there or you don't, pick. And if you want our help, then send us some damn oil Stop hiding your reserves and racking up our bills.

iPhone, I hardly knew ya.

So after much angst and frustration, I'm ditching my iPhone 4. I'm doing this for several reasons; the constant reboots, the lag in apps working efficiently, the dislike for Flash and now..the seemingly irrational delay in deploying the Google+ app through the app store because Apple doesn't like the competition. Now I'm a huge Mac fan, but this crap is beginning to feel a lot like Microsoft of the mid-90's. And it isn't like Mac doesn't have competition in the open-source world. Android (from Google) is more than capable of competing with iOS (the Apple mobile operating system) and Android produces many, if not all, of the same Apps. Makes you wonder what Apple is thinking? So as my frustration mounted, I've found myself trading in my iPhone 4 for an Android OS based LG Revolution. Two can play the who-loves-who game. FYI to my iPad, you better get yourself Flash compatible...ASAP!

General masses and Google+

I'm thoroughly enjoying reading the masses try to flame Google+ on CNN ; this is the same group that just realized Twitter and Blogs exist. Reading comments like "only tech types care about Google+" and "Facebook forever" let me know just how advanced I am. These are the same folks who probably noticed Facebook about 24 months ago after their news station kept mentioning it. I would dare any of these folks to attempt to bust out a description of a 'social network'. Keep on trying "Baby Boomers" :)

Debt Ceiling

I'm so tired of the non-sense that America will stop paying its bills in August. That is 100% inaccurate. Not raising the debt ceiling in no way means America stops paying bills, it means America can't continue to borrow to pay bills. That is why there is a huge push to stop spending. America can no longer have a blank check from the world.

Major flaw with proposed "Caylee's Law"

America, in classic form, is over-reacting to a perceived in justice. The recent push for a bill titled "Caylee's Law" out of Florida makes it a felony if a parent doesn't report a child missing in 24 hours; a FELONY. You read that right, the same as if you murdered someone or were caught selling cocaine. So let's play out the 'what if' here. Example: You send your kids on a vacation weekend in another state with your cousin and her husband and their kids. You don't know the husband very well, but you do know your cousin. Well you get a call on Monday saying that on their way back they got a flat tire and wouldn't be bringing your kids home until Wednesday. Wednesday rolls around and you get another call stating 'something' happened and they aren't going to be back till Friday if that is OK. You approve. Friday rolls around and you can't get a hold of your cousin or the husband. Turns out, they murdered your kids and are completely ...

Unbelievable Irony and Saddening Reality

Unbelievable Irony, that is the only term that can define Charlie Rangel discussing debt issues in Congress. This is a man that was thrown off a committee because of his fraudulent activity when it comes to finances. This is a man who represents a district that doesn't seem to care that its man on the hill is a liar. Unbelievable. It really is no wonder that America is a financially screwed as it is. People like this claiming to have the best interests of a Nation at heart, it is a wonder we still have a currency. Social Security He comments on Social Security, a defunct system of Liberal love to make up for those who couldn't figure out how to save for themselves after the Great Depression. What he doesn't mention is the fact, FACT, that Social Security is in its death throws and will be taking what remains of the US economy with it. Social programs, when added together, cost roughly the same as the entire 850B defense budget. Bet you didn't know that, because accordin...

Shuttle Program Over.

The US Space program hit a milestone today, the final STS launch. At over 130, that is a pretty impressive record for a design that has been active since the 1970's. I'm not saddened to see this program die however. For too long it has served as nothing more than an expensive science experiment and repair facility; hauling parts for the ISS. I saw an article on CNN asking why America had lost interest in space. The answer is simple, the same missions every single time, or at least the perception of such. America is also a country of lack luster educational performance and anything that doesn't involve a reality show seems to have no interest. Maybe the "Real Astronauts of Florida" may have improved their standings? Long story short, it is the ending of an era. The United States still dominates in the final frontier and if we don't 'move on' we will never achieve anything new.

"Stars" remark on "verdict"

Dumb Clowns and their Twitter Accounts Why do media types and the masses of Americans care about what glorified court-jesters think about a murder trial? Honestly, you aren't following these people for their brains, yet we insist on harping on the usually dumb, misinformed and jaded views of reality on a world of topics from Politics to, now, the Judicial system. How about they stick to what they are good at, just sit there and look pretty, play me music and amuse me, nothing more as that is all I expect from a clown.

Social Networks, Twitter, Blogs and......Texting?

Social Networking + Twitter + Blogs So Facebook looks to finally have a real rival, possibly..maybe..perhaps, in Google+. The debate can easily be had between who will come out on top at the end of the day, but one thing is proven completely, social networks are here to stay. Makes one wonder why some individuals refuse to 'join' as if it is simply a passing fad or something the 'kids' do. While I'm sure there were people who weren't down with the phone when it came into existence, but eventually, it consumed all. Social networks like Facebook or Google+ allow for simple discussion and thoughts to be had between a person and their friends, that isn't to say that some individuals don't go ballistic with the technology..having their Twitter account update seven different sites and such. Twitter has to be one of the most misunderstood tools, at least by me. I've never seen the utility in 160 words randomly placed with #, @ and re-tweet symbols. If someo...

Weiner..don't get it twisted.

Apparently the media and politicians alike don't understand why the latest scandal to hit US politics is a major one. For starters, it has absolutely nothing to do with consenting adults or one man tweeting photos of himself to women; it has to do with bold face lies in the face of questioning from a political leader who represents others. Weiner lied, LIED, for 3 straight days on every media outlet in regards to whether he sent the photos or not. He even went as far to say "my account was hacked" as to elude to some malicious event. In the end, he said the photos were his and that he sent them. So he is a bold faced liar. Yet, for some reason nobody is upset by this. They are debating whether sending photos is a problem. Who gives a rats hind parts about whether the photos are a problem, the liar part should be the only debate right now. Watching constituents say "it's OK" for Weiner to lie makes me want to leave this country. Apparently we are alright with...

Kids need year-round schooling.

I couldn't agree more with LZ Granderson in his latest write up on schooling. In his article he discusses the origin of 'summer vacation' and how the average US student loses a months worth of education every year; which helps them to rank poorly in every testing procedure done globally. More interesting to note was how American students perceive their own capabilities; believing that they are somehow superior when their work is less than standard in nearly every other country with near United States status. American kids are lazy, as a mass and testing shows this. While you do have your shinning stars the bulk of this galaxy is dying orbs. We really need to re-evaluate our priorities as a nation. If we plan to stay 'superior' we need to act that way and set the standards, not wait for others to show us the way. We have become too fat and happy, to willing to let the other nations do our bidding. This will bite us in the rear as time goes on. We must lead. We must ...

Mother's Day

Well it is that time in May again where the commercial sector tries to profit from a husband and children's love for their Mother. What a wonderful world to live in. Mom's all around today are opening cards, receiving flowers and in some cases expensive jewels for their general role in society and family. In many cases these exceptional women deserve continued admiration for the things they do on a daily basis; it is no small feet to be a true Mom in the world today. In the case of my own experiences, my wife works 7 days a week and busts her rear to get things done..and that is just at work, before she focuses on the family. The rest of her time is made up of a complex conundrum of activities, maintenance and day-care (for both the kids and myself). She truly deserves to be respected for her role. However, this isn't always the case in America. Many so called Moms are nothing more than birthing orifices doing nothing more than getting impregnated by some random sperm machi...

"Geronimo"

Really, we're asking the Pentagon to apologize for using the call sign GERONIMO for the operation to kill Bin Laden? This is absurd. No, you aren't getting an apology for a code name. Stop pretending it offended you and stop wasting peoples time for the sake of complaining. DUMB

Obama doesn't want to surrender to SEAL team

Image
Apparently CNN was ahead of the curve, wait, no, they were just brainwashed in Obama love...so much so they accidentally substituted his name for Osama...oops.

NFL Players, stop crying.

Really NFL players? Really? You do nothing but play a game, and your career lasts about as long as the average high school work study but you feel like you need a larger cut of the money pie? How about no. You take none of the risk financially as a player, you didn't front 500 million to buy a stadium, you don't worry about keeping the league a float, you don't worry about the transition from attendance to viewing audience along with a million other things you don't have to care about. The owners are business men, and far far smarter than you. Chris Rock said it best " isn't rich, the guy who signs his check is" - absolutely. Know your role players, you are players in THEIR game, they aren't playing in yours.

Federal Involvement - Funding

There has been a great debate, an ongoing debate, about governments role in funding certain elements of society. We all universally agree (for the most part) that there are areas in the Country where the government should use collective tax dollars to fund operations; roads, power, schooling, etc. However the government has fat fingers and politicians love to shove them in everyones pot. The government has no role, none, in funding things that could privately fund them selves and are considered controversial. Examples: planned parenthood, national public radio, environmental 'initiatives', etc.. The previous list of areas where the government should get out completely, are extremely controversial. People will argue, generally, in favor of these with the comment that 'we' should help these institutions and that is generally followed by some extreme example of a failure on societies part. However, what is routinely left out is the fact that all of these areas can be funde...

Government Spending

Really, you just figured out that the Government is probably spending money poorly? Wow, are you disconnected from the world? US Government has been misspending funds since it was created. And still, with 14T deficits and obvious holes in auditing of Gov spending, Democrats still want to spend more. It makes no sense at all. How about we take time to figure out where we are bleeding funds, and stop? This brings me to....unions..and Wisconsin. So apparently it is OK to bail on your Gov responsibilities if you don't want to vote. Unions served a purpose for a long time, but nowadays they are viewed as simply a burden to America. Try to remember, less than 12% of the US workforce is Unionized, but in the face of that fact, union bosses will claim that "they are the middle class" and "they built America" and "Government is attacking them". Well, more than 88% of workers aren't in your crappy unions. 88% of the workers don't make on average 6,000 mo...

Chris Christie...the....man.

If you don't know the Governor of New Jersey, you should. This guy is unbelievable, an actual honest politician. Sadly for the United States, he doesn't want to run from President. Dang it. If you did see his speech to the AEI this week, you missed an AMAZING speech. View it here in full.

Oh boy the flu sucks

So a coworker decided that they weren't going to stay home with 'flu symptoms', instead coming to work. Well, that didn't end well from me. I got the flu on Monday night and just now, Friday, I'm almost done with it. This completely sucked. I lost a week of work and had to blow vacation time that I would have liked to use for another three letter f word, fun. Lesson learned, from now on I'm getting a flu shot because this was physically painful and really horrible. I'd never had the flu before, now I know why people complain. It blows. So, note to all those "sick" people that don't want to use leave...screw that! Take off, or you should be forced off without pay by all the people you infect. Just saying.

Hey "wait" on your tax refund.

So because Congress passed tax laws in the last month of the year, the IRS wants filers to "wait" on getting their deductions in. How about I wait on paying you any taxes? I really wish people would make a big deal out of this, but they aren't going to. They are too busy trying to figure out what their "top 10 music of 2010" was to give a crap about continuing to get screwed. All the filers that would have filed in January to get money, that the government 'stole', back have to wait and wait and wait. While the government collects interest on the taxes collected. Does this sound fair to....anyone? What if you decided not to pay your taxes because you'd made changes in your life and the government needed to "wait" to a pre-defined time. How do you think that would fly? Pretty sure, unless your a Congressman or Cabinet member, you'd be going to jail and fined. Yeah, for some reason the laws don't apply to the Cabinet (cough Tres Secre...
